The Scioto Ridge Job Networking Group was organized to assist people, like you, who have lost their job or are anticipating a career change by supporting you in several ways:

• Our primary goal is to strive to expand your network of business contacts in order to discover job opportunities that are best found through networking. 
• We provide guest speakers at many of our meetings who are expert in the job search process or in career development and can provide you with valuable advice that can positively affect your job search.

• We connect you to other SRJNG members who are in job transition and can become part of your personal support group as you pass through this career transition phase of your life.

• SRJNG members are notified of job openings that become available to our group from other members, speakers or recruiters that have become part of the SRJNG network.

• And, most importantly, the Scioto Ridge Job Networking Group strives to provide its members with a motivational, inspirational and devotional influence in their life.

Meetings

Meetings are currently held at two churches in the Columbus area and one in Reynoldsburg.  Please visit the website at www.sciotoridgejng.com for meeting locations, dates and times.   If you become a member of the Scioto Ridge Job Networking Group, you are encouraged to attend meetings at all chapters.

Meeting Format

• We begin each meeting with some preliminary announcements including those important announcements about members who have landed a new position since the last meeting.

• Each attendee then has the opportunity to spend a little time introducing themselves to the group and talking about their job search progress to date.  Please limit your discussion to one minute.

-         You may bring copies or your resume or information sheet and pass them out to all of the members.  Normally 70 members and guests attend our meetings.

-         If you have identified target companies for which you would like to work, please let the group know so that we may be able to provide you with any contacts in these companies.

-          If you can, please offer the group information about companies in which you have good connections in or any other information that you feel would be valuable to members of the group during their job search.

• Next, we typically have a guest speaker or discussion group leader that provides us with important job search information or will discuss some aspect of the job search process.  We are very appreciative to have their participation in our group.

• We always end our meeting with an inspirational prayer called “The Prayer for Work”.  I recommend that you start each day of your job search reading this prayer.  It will inspire you and give you the energy that you need to sustain you throughout your job search.

• Members and guests are welcome to stay after the meeting to network with other members and make arrangements to meet during the week.

Membership

You may join our group by going to our website www.sciotoridgejng.com and applying on line.  Our website will accept major credit cards for your membership fee.  If you would like to pay by check, just complete the initial membership application, send us a check and we will then activate your membership.

Expectations of Our Members

The Scioto Ridge Job Networking Group serves as a resource for members of the Columbus community who are in need of finding a new job.  The strength of this group lies in the commitment of each member to reach out and help other members or the group during their job search.

Members of SRJNG agree to meet with other members of the group when asked either in person or by telephone and give of their time and energy. 

As members land in new jobs, it is important that they continue to make themselves available to new members of the group and become part of the new member’s business network.  By continuing to participate in job search networking, members who have landed new jobs are constantly expanding their own business contact network. 

Membership Fees

We charge a one time initiation fee of $25 for each new member and $5.00 for each meeting.  These modest fees will be used to pay for maintaining the website, newsletter service and administrative needs of the group. As we grow, these fees will allow for the continual upgrade of resources available to all SRJNG members.

Ten percent of all membership and meeting fees will be returned to The Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church for the gracious use of its facilities.
